Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has emphasized the important role of private investment and called for major improvements in investment promotion and management in Laos.

The Prime Minister addressed the second day of the first Investment Promotion and Management Conference, held on 11–12 August 2026, with 392 participants from central and local government agencies and the private sector.

Prime Minister highlighted the contribution of domestic private investment and foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country’s socio-economic development and its efforts to overcome economic challenges.

The Prime Minister called for simpler investment procedures, stronger one-stop investment services, digital data connectivity, and clearer timelines and responsibilities among relevant authorities. He also stressed improving logistics competitiveness and strengthening links between foreign investors and domestic businesses.

Key priorities include improving access to credit, maintaining monetary and financial stability, upgrading the National Single Window, developing digital land and tax systems, connecting FDI with local MSMEs, and strengthening investor aftercare services.
