On 20 May 2026, at the Investment Promotion and Management Committee Office (IPMCO), H.E. Mme. Phonevanh OUTHAVONG, Deputy Minister, Vice President of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, Standing Member, together with a high-level representative from IPMCO and related divisions, has been working with Mrs Shanny Campbell, ADB Country Director, Lao PDR Resident and her team.
On this occasion, both sides highlighted the importance of past cooperation, particularly ADB’s support for socio-economic development, biodiversity conservation, infrastructure, logistics, environmentally friendly renewable energy, and clean agricultural development, as well as ongoing collaboration in additional sectors such as education and public health.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister, Vice President of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, and Standing Member emphasised that the Lao PDR is rich in natural resources and both reliable and appealing for investment. The Party-State’s policy of strengthening engagement with neighbouring countries and the international community is being continuously enhanced. To attract and accommodate large-scale international investment, she proposed maintaining and expanding assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of a strategic partnership between the Office of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, ADB, and other partners. This would include capacity building for personnel, targeted, professional advertising, improving the quality of online media, developing a robust database system, and other initiatives.
