Vientiane, 16 June 2026, H.E Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Standing Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, along with his delegation welcomed H.E. Ms. Megan Jones, the Australian Ambassador to the Lao PDR and her delegation during a courtesy visit at the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador exchanged views on various areas aiming at elevate bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In addition, both sides exchanged views on socio-economic development priorities for the ongoing five- years plan (2026-2030). They emphasized the critical role of domestic and foreign private investment, which is projected to account for 64.4% of financing source to achieve an average economic growth of 6% per year over the next five years.
In closing, both side reaffirmed their commitment to enhance and strengthening cooperation in key priority sectors including agriculture, mining, infrastructure, energy, and the digital economy, while supporting the Lao PDR’s deeper integration into the regional and global economy.
